MCR Group

Founded in 1996, MCR Group is a leading outsourced services company based in Ireland with a workforce of over 3,000 employees. The business provides services across security, cleaning, personnel, and engineering to a broad range of muti-site customers across various industries.

ESG has been consistently embedded within the company for many years, which has set them apart in their sector in Ireland. In 2019, they launched ÍON (meaning pure in Irish), an award winning initiative for clients targeting energy and carbon footprint reduction, recycling and re-using. They also work with environmentally conscious clients, and have developed an eco-friendly approach to cleaning and servicing Ireland’s premium commercial and corporate spaces which are demonstrated by MCR’s:

• Provision of chemical free and plant-based cleaning practices
• Offering to clients water and energy saving technology
• Use of sustainable and reusable products where possible
• Recent establishment of an electric fleet of vehicles (6 new electric vehicles in 2023)
   

MCR recently established a ‘Green Team’ to help run its ESG initiatives, including a recent event, ‘Plastic Free July’, which helped MCR Group reach their goal of eliminating single-use plastics completely from their operations.

There has also been a special focus on the development of a paper-less, cloud-based reporting and contract management system. The system created the following environmental and governance benefits and impacts:

• Improved productivity by eliminating 658hr, previously spent on printing and distributing folders to multiple sites
• Improved QHSE Compliance & Control as online folders and checklist are updated in real time
• After system established, costs reduced by €24.6k, paper use reduced by 514kg, the use of plastic folders reduced by 411 and emissions by 616kg CO2e.
