The BVCA is pleased to announce Garry Wilson as the Chair of Council, the association’s board of directors, starting from 2nd April.
Having been vice chair for the past year, Garry takes over at a time when the private capital industry is continuing to grow and to contribute significantly to the UK economy.

Garry has over 20 years of business and private equity experience. He is managing partner at Leeds- based Endless LLP, which specialises in investing in turnarounds, special situations and value buyouts. Garry focuses on new investment opportunities, looking after a number of Endless’s portfolio businesses while leading the growth of the firm.

Before joining the BVCA’s Council Garry previously sat on the ‘mid-market’ committee for UK & European Capital, which he chaired for 3 years. He has been heavily engaged in the BVCA’s work with industry and government for a number of years.

Garry started his career as an accountant at 2002 Arthur Andersen where he developed expertise advising private equity houses on the investments that weren't going to plan. After serving as a Partner with Ernst and Young, in 2005, he set up Endless LLP.

On his appointment, Garry said:

“As the new Chair of the BVCA, I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent the private equity and venture capital industry this coming year. I take over from Charlie Troup who has done a tremendous job over the last year, and together with his predecessors, he has ensured that the BVCA is in great shape.

“The industry makes a huge economic and social contribution in all parts of the country. It has grown substantially in the past 40 years and so there is ever more scrutiny. We have a great opportunity to tell our story and to speak up about how private capital can deliver benefits for millions of people in the UK. Almost 2m jobs across the UK are supported by private capital investment, with 65% of those investments made in businesses outside of London. By explaining who we are investing money on behalf – pension schemes, universities, charitable foundation to name a few – we can show that we can generate returns for the beneficiaries of those investments whilst having a positive benefit in the communities where we invest.”

Michael Moore, Director General of the BVCA said:

“The team at the BVCA are looking forward to working with Garry. His experience, knowledge and passion for the industry will be invaluable in what looks to be a busy year ahead for the industry. These are important times for private capital in the UK and Garry’s determination to tell the story of how much we contribute already and the potential to do more is really exciting.”
